ABOUT SUNN BYRD
Sunn Byrd is a Philadelphia native and has a B.S. in Marketing. She began her writing career in 2010 creating short stories for children. Being a daycare owner/operator of sixteen years, one of the most delightful times of the day was doing story-time with her students. Her love for writing inspired her to create the characters "The Players" in her book series. Byrd's primary goal is to keep children engaged in reading with the intent of encouraging a healthy active lifestyle. She recognizes that many of today's children spend more time playing video games and using cell phones by the age of two, than they do reading and actively playing. Through "The Players" series, it focuses on active play-time and honing in on good sportsmanship. With the lack of daily outside play-time and exercise, Byrd is actively fostering the need of developing strong reading skills by incorporating physical fitness into her sessions. Working in the field of entertainment for over a decade, Byrd has recently taken her creative skills and started teaching children the craft of doing voice-overs. She has great admiration for the children who are seasoned in the field of acting and singing but also loves to work with those that are inexperienced in the field. Byrd, brought in a group of children of both experienced and inexperienced kids and gave them the opportunity to bring the characters "The Players" to life. She was most proud of the team of students that work so diligently in completing the first two series "Hiking We Go! and Girls Can Play Boys' Sports Too!" They are truly all stars in the making, says Byrd.
Sunn Byrd has been blessed to have a host of many other accolades to express her creative skills. She has graced the stage singing, opening up for such artist as Angela Winbush, Tony Terry, singing with The Blue Note, Teddy Pendergrass, as well as being apart of the Pepsi tour with John Legend. Incorporating acting into her repertoire, she has charmed her audience in over a dozen phenomenal stage plays including honoring the leading role in the true story of "My Husband John of the legendary Mc Fadden & Whitehead, held at the Kimmel Center. Byrd also appeared in the film Witness written by Deeva Gordon, A Mother's Love, 1982 written by Tommy Oliver starring Hill Harper, Sharon Leal, Ruby Dee, and Wayne Brady. Recently, she was also featured in the film "Jason's Letter" written by Terrance Tykeem, starring Vivica A. Fox, Jamol Manigault, Brain Hooks, Joe Gannascoli, Robert Lasardo, and Paul Anthony. Byrd continues to be diligent in her craft of creativity, freelancing doing spread sheet, press releases, commercial segments, jingles and theme songs.
